About Artist
In the process of my art, I explore places that I have never been. In an attempt to "sing in my own key", I am constantly reaching for new ideas and experimenting with new mediums. Although much of my past art has dealt with the human condition, recent work has been affected by the introduction of the grid. The grid had represented a framework on which to build/expand my image. Increasingly, however, it is becoming a miniature sieve through which my responses are filtered, pushing the image to its essence.
As an art history student in the 1960s, I met Maxim Bugzester, student of Georges Braque, who was the biggest influence in my becoming a painter. I have been a museum docent, juror and workshop instructor. I received my B. A. from Hunter College in New York City; attended the Art Students League of New York and the New York Studio School; participated in a residency at the Vermont Studio Center; and graduated in June, 2000 with a Master of Arts degree from Marywood University in Scranton, PA..
